Members of Girl Scout Troop #20711 delivered cookies and holiday wishes to the Fisher House on December 17, 2011. They were also given a tour of the Fisher House. See attached pictures of the Girl Scout Troop #20711 and their troop leaders.

Members of the Columbia County Exchange Club provided and delivered a catered meal (chopped pork and chopped chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, potato salad, peach cobbler and sweet and unsweet tea) by Shane’s Rib Shack on Tuesday December 20, 2011; they also handed out holiday greeting cards and gift cards for each Fisher House Family. Special thanks to the following individuals from the Columbia County Exchange Club, Mrs. Phyllis Salazar, Mr. Darrell Byrd and Mrs. Wendy Strom for their time and effort in delivering the catered meal from Shane’s Rib Shack and ensuring a joyful holiday and holiday meal for the Fisher House Families.

On Saturday (November 19, 2011) the Warrant Officer Advance Course, WOAC 254A-001-12 helped with fall cleaning at the Fort Gordon Fisher House. They raked leaves and pine needles throughout the Fisher House grounds and even did the outside windows. Thanks to WOAC 254A 001-12 for your support.

Sea Island Shrimp house and Tiago’s Cabo Grill teamed up with the Fisher Houses at Fort Sam Houston for a wristband promotion in their restaurants. Wristbands were sold to restaurant patrons for a suggeted donation of $1.00 throughout the months of October and November, with the final day commencing on November 30th. A check for more than $5,000 was presented at the Fisher House.

Signal Officer Basic Course Class 006-11

Thanks to the Signal Officer Basic Course Class 006-11 Whate and Red Platoons, with approximately 20 members in each platton for coming out to the EAMC Fisher House (Fort Gordon) on August 20, 2011. The Red Platoon showed up 9:00 am and worked until 12:00 noon, primarily working on beautifying the outside of the Fisher House. The White Platoon showed up at 12:00 and worked until 3:00 pm, they concentrated on doing some deep cleaning inside of the Fisher house, from wiping the book shelves in the living room to cleaning the chandeliers in the dining room.

MOAA Donation at Fort Gordon

The Georgia Mountain Chapter of MOAA held a golf tournament which was a resounding success. With the help of generous donors and the hard work of all their volunteers they made it a weekend event in which many Wounded Warriors and their families will remember for a life time. COL Paul (R) Paul Wingo drove from Dahlonega, Georgia to present a check to the Eisenhower Army Medical Center (Fort Gordon) Fisher House. Thanks to the St. Teresa of Avila’s ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 8495 who made a donation of paper products (paper towells, paper plates, napkins, tissue, etc) and canned goods.

Fort Lewis Fisher House was wonderful and such a blessing. Our children were able to see their daddy after he was injured in Afghanistan. Thank You!

Truly a gift and grateful we found out and were able to stay here. I was nervous and anxious over Caitlins symtoms and caring for her. Being able to stay here took a lot of stress away and I know made me more comfortable and her recovery quicker. Thank You!
