Now there is new way to support our troops! Author David Nemeroff is donating a portion of the proceeds from his book Enter Into Aikido from each copy sold through our organization.

Columbia County Exchange Club Hold Cookout for Fisher House Families

Members of the Columbia County Exchange Club stopped by the Fisher House on Saturday, 30 May 2009, and held cookout for the Fisher House Families. Some members of the Warrior Transition Battalion and VA Active Duty Rehab Unit were also invited and attended the cookout. Attached are some pictures of the cookout:

First Baptist Church Server Girls class presented the Fort Gordon Fisher House with gift baskets

On 4 March 2009 a group of approximately 28 young girls (3rd, 4th and 5th graders) from the First Baptist Church Server Girls class stopped by the Fort Gordon Fisher House from 6:20PM to 7PM and presented the Fisher House Families with a gift basket that they made. The Lozada Family, King Family and Polite Family (FH Families) were present and each were presented with a gift basket during there visit. The other gift baskets were placed in front of the other Fisher House Families room door. In all they made 19 gift baskets for the current Fisher House Families and the extra for those Families that will be assisted and checked into the Fisher House in the future. A SPECIAL THANKS TO THE First Baptist Church Server Girls Class.

Audriana Llinas, a student with the Greenbreir High School Navy JROTC program, presented the Fort Gordon Fisher and the Warrior in Transition Battalion each with a check and some local area restaurant gift certificates from a charity event she successfully put together. Audriana Llinas chose as her high school project to coordinate, and setup a fundraiser and in this a case run (5K) also known as the “Warrior Challenge Run” held on the January 31, 2009 to help support the Fisher House and Wounded Warriors.

COL (Ret.) Mary Hammond, President of the local chapter of the Federally Employed Women (FEW), presents a check to Mr. Cruz for the Fisher House. Also present and pictured from left to right is COL (Ret.) Hammond, Chaplain (LTC) Clark (EAMC Pastoral Care Chaplain – who visits and meets with Fisher House Families several times a week at the Fisher House), Mr. Francisco Cruz (Fisher House Manager) and Mr. Harold Lewis (Fisher House volunteer).

Warrant Officer Basic Course Members Support Fort Gordon Fisher House

On 7 February 2009, sixteen (16) members of the Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC) 251A Class 010-08 stop by the Fort Gordon Fisher House and did some deep cleaning in the common areas (living room, dinning room, kitchen area and some rooms).

Fort Gordon Fisher House – Zaxby’s Fundraiser

Ms. Sofie Goode the Zaxby’s Area Manager in Savannah, Georgia coordinated a fundraiser for the Fort Gordon Fisher House. In where the Zaxbys, in Vidalia, Pooler, Chatham Parkway, Port Wentworth and Ogeechee Road Georgia raised funds for the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center’s Fisher House at Fort Gordon. On 21 January 2009, Ms. Goode and Zaxbys’ representatives visited the Fisher House and presented a check for $8,983.16. The majorities of the funds were generated by Mr. Craig Jones’ Zaxbys’ locations. BG Bradshaw, SERMC/DDEAMC Commander, was also present for the presentation and also presented to Ms. Goode and Zaxbys’ representatives an Army Fisher House coin.

GA Power Employees Help Fort Gordon Fisher House on MLK Day 2009

THANKS to the local chapter of the GA Power employees, families and friends that came out on Martin Luther King’s Birthday, 19 January 2009, to the Fisher House and help beautify the grounds. From removing old, diseased, and dead shrubberies and plants to planting new plants, trees, shrubberies, flowers etc., They also cleared the small nature path to Eisenhower Army Medical Center (EAMC) from the Fisher House and pressure washed the fence with the additional help from soldiers from Bravo Company 447 (25Bravo Course) and the Warrant Officers Course (WOBC 254A 007-08). They also brought coffee and doughnuts for all as well as having a cookout for all and all the Fisher House Families were also invited too partake of and enjoy the day. Thanks also the Health Services Auxiliary which helped in getting some of the plantings needed and thanks to the Fort Gordon’s ground crew for the prep work done prior to the project, thus ensuring a successful landscaping project at the Fisher House.
